WTVJ is seeking a strong journalist with a passion for news to put an emphasis on content when producing for multiple platforms. On broadcast, you’ll be able to hone and show off your producing skills while maximizing video and graphics on our beautiful set. On other platforms, you’ll be able to help shape the brand we present. You’ll need to line produce, write, copyedit, edit video, gather content and produce elements all under heavy deadline pressure, without compromising accuracy and credibility. You will work closely with news management, assignment desk editors, anchors, reporters and photographers on the best way to execute content in newscasts and in special coverage. Key responsibilities: Write and edit content including breaking news for linear TV, streaming channels and other platforms. Collaborate with assignment desk, producers and reporters to research and produce news segments and other content and place on appropriate platform. Ensure that we are being live, urgent and relevant in our storytelling. Check all scripts for accuracy, grammar, and punctuation. Use desktop editing systems to edit video including breaking news. Monitor a variety of news and video sources to identify content that would appeal to our audiences. Support reporters, anchors and photographers with content needs. Communicate quickly and effectively in the control room with production and news staff. Work effectively under pressure in a deadline-driven environment, with the ability to multitask across assignments. Ensure all content meets the network’s editorial standards, legal guidelines, and journalistic ethics. Showcase content and visual elements in a compelling and clear way.
