VP, Newsgathering Planning (MSNBC)

The Vice President of Planning will be responsible for the logistical planning of current day, next day, and future events. Responsibilities: Focus on long-term strategic planning of news coverage. Develops coverage schedules and content guidelines across various platforms. Identifies and prioritizes important stories and events. Ensures ongoing stories are followed up and covered adequately. Monitor breaking news and coordinate coverage needs with MSNBC leadership and the Newsgathering Desk. Generate story ideas and help plan coverage for next day; Develop close relationships with show teams to synergize coverage plans with program needs. Keep an extensive futures calendar on tent pole events, newsmaking opportunities and coverage opportunities. Work on long-term planning assignments and special events Collaborate with VP of News Gathering on short-term and long-term initiatives.
