Generator Technician
NBCUniversal seeks a qualified Generator Service Engineer to take responsibility for supporting our clients and servicing the Universal Production Services mobile generator fleet. Your existing knowledge as a mechanical engineer with electrical experience, to service HVO/diesel driven generators, alternators and ancillary equipment will be critical to your success in this role. This is mainly a depot-based role; however, there will be occasions where it is necessary to travel to filming locations. Universal Production Services is the equipment support company for Sky Studios Elstree – the world’s most sustainable film and TV studio. With 13 sound stages, the studios are host to major motion pictures and television productions. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team! What you’ll do… The preparation, testing and repair of mobile generator sets, on 4x4 and 18T chassis vehicles. Planned and reactive service and maintenance of mobile generator fleet. Service, fault, find and carry out breakdown repairs if required. Liaising with Fleet Manager for generator planning purposes. Fault diagnosis and rectification of any issues. Assist in the service, maintenance and overall upkeep and appearance of mobile generators (up to 250KVA) for the rental fleet. Ensuring manufacturers' recommended service schedules are followed. Provide general assistance in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment. Obtain hours and fuel levels of all trucks and generators, returned by customers or own transport, if requested. Assist in the servicing and repairs off-site as and when required. Occasional requirement for other duties on-site. Drive forklift in the yard if required, once training has been given. When required, drive company vehicles to visit film crews on location, collect/deliver parts and any essential equipment. Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy. Comply with all aspects of the company quality management procedures, environmental management standards and occupational health & safety management best practice, proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement programme.
