We’re looking for a newsroom leader with exceptional producing skills and sharp editorial judgment to drive high‑quality, day‑of‑air package production under intense deadlines. This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll guide a team of producers, associate producers, and production assistants in building fast-paced, visually compelling pieces and segments. You’ll help them navigate production from pitch through edit. Responsibilities Identify, vet, and shape timely, compelling stories that can turn fast for same‑day air. Lead a team of Producers, Associate Producers, and Production Assistants—providing clear direction, hands‑on edit guidance, and steady leadership when news is breaking Surface the strongest elements for each story—if it pops, you find it and secure it Elevate scripts through smart rewrites and thoughtful structure Troubleshoot last‑minute edit issues and keep packages moving to air Set the editorial approach and clearly communicate how each piece should come together Coordinate closely with reporters and producers across NBC News platforms Mentor early‑career staff on writing, editing, and news judgment to help them grow Pinpoint the right angles for reporter assignments Jump into the control room as needed
