Director, Domestic Newsgathering - MSNBC Dayside
The Director of Domestic Newsgathering is responsible for leading the editorial direction and operational execution of domestic newsgathering during core weekday hours. This role oversees the assignment desk team, coordinates with the Senior Assignment Manager, and ensures efficient, ethical, and impactful editorial coverage across platforms. The Director drives daily news priorities, breaking news responses, and long-range planning with a sharp focus on accuracy, speed, and journalistic integrity. Responsibilities & Duties Supervise and provide guidance to newsroom staff, including reporters, editors, and multimedia journalists Oversee the planning, development, and execution of news stories and coverage Coordinate news coverage and allocate resources efficiently Ensure all editorial content meets high standards of accuracy, fairness, and integrity Develop and implement newsroom policies and procedures Monitor news wires, social media, and other sources to stay current of breaking news and significant events Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans for the newsroom
