Manager, Collaboration Engineering

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager for Collaboration Engineering to oversee a team of engineers supporting NBCUniversal’s Collaboration Systems. This role encompasses a technical leadership with oversight on operational activities and expertise to drive strategic projects and initiatives, ensuring the reliability and scalability of our Collaboration infrastructure. The Manager will also drive strategy and manage relationships with external vendors and internal application/business technology teams. NBCUniversal’s Operations & Technology Leadership has prioritized focus on Collaboration strategy, and this is an exciting opportunity to be part of leading NBCU’s Collaboration solutions to the next generation. Specific solutions include: Email and calendaring (Exchange, Outlook, Proofpoint) File storage and sharing (OneDrive, SharePoint) Document creation (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Video, audio, and text chat (Teams) Meeting room conferencing and booking (Cisco, Condeco, Microsoft) Collaboration Tools (Slack, Zoom, Docusign & Dropbox) SharePoint Operations PowerApps Operations Live Events & VOD (MS Teams, Vimeo) Responsibilities: Manage and mentor a team of highly skilled professionals with expertise across collaboration tool sets. Oversee the overall functioning and management of NBCUniversal’s Collaboration services through Microsoft 365 Suite of Services – covering Messaging, Sharepoint, OneDrive and MS Teams. Develop and implement strategic plans for the Collaboration environment in alignment with organizational goals. Develop, maintain and approve exhaustive standard operating procedures, system architecture diagrams, system design specification documents and user guidance documentation. Review and maintain privileged accesses & permissions to sub-ordinates, restrict permissions to on-a-need basis and dependent on skill set of the resources. Ensure the collaboration tools are aligned & comply with security and legal policies. Conduct operations and engineering review with the site reliability engineers and product manager’s, review backlog and initiates to evaluate trade studies, approve solution designs, and maintain the overall workplace system architecture. Serve as the subject matter expert for Collaboration technologies (Email, Teams, Sharepoint and best practices. Review operational metrics, analyze trends on issues reported, take proactive steps to eliminate and reduce repetitive incidents Lead efforts to restore services at times of service disruption due to unforeseen outages / incidents across the Microsoft Suite of services. Manage operational support 24*7 during special events covered by NBCUniversal – Ex. Olympics, Winter Olympics, Presidential Elections, Movie releases etc. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in the Collaboration space. Manage relationships with key stakeholders, other internal infrastructure engineering & service areas including IT, HR, Business Engagement partners and external partners. Manage relationships with external vendors, service providers with periodic reviews to ensure services being provided by the vendors stay in line with agreed terms and conditions at acceptable service levels. Ensure compliance with licensing agreements and regulatory requirements. Implement and manage support processes to ensure timely resolution of user issues.
