Manager, Government & Regulatory Affairs
The Manager, Government and Regulatory Affairs is responsible for: Supporting the company’s engagement with the EU institutions, regulators, industry bodies and market stakeholders on issues affecting the film and television production and distribution business. The role will shape and advance the company’s public policy and regulatory strategy, ensuring a stable, competitive, and sustainable environment for investment, content creation and distribution; Developing and advancing the company’s government affairs strategies to address key areas of importance for NBCUniversal’s EU businesses and to ensure a favourable, competitive and sustainable environment for the business; and Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with all EU institutions, key governments, and other political and industry stakeholders. The Manager will work as a key member of NBCUniversal’s International Government and Regulatory Affairs team and will need to liaise, coordinate and work closely with NBCUniversal’s and Sky’s government affairs team members responsible for the UK, Brussels, Continental Europe, China, Asia Pacific and Latin America. The Manager will also work with our key trade associations – the Motion Pictures Association, the European VOD Coalition, and the Association for Commercial Televisions in Europe – following the works of key tasks force and working groups; representing NBCU when necessary; and ensuring the free flow of information within NBCU. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Manager, Government and Regulatory Affairs will support the SVP Government and Regulatory Affairs driving NBCUniversal’s government affairs and regulatory work in Brussels and potentially the EU. They will help formulate and implement NBCUniversal’s EU strategy in line with targeted international priorities. The responsibilities of the Manager will include: monitor the evolution of key policy debates and dossiers in the EU; follow and input in the work of task forces and working groups in key trade associations; manage the daily relationship with NBCU’s EU external consultants; and manage the EU section of key internal reporting and tracking tools, including NBCU’s live matters updates and AI tracker. Issues covered will include those that are particular to NBCUniversal’s business as a media company and IP owner. These will include copyright ownership, licensing and remuneration; AI; content protection; broadcasting, streaming and media regulation; market access for production and distribution of our content; tax incentives for content production for our international film and television production businesses. Issues covered will also include those relevant to all US-owned companies conducting business in the EU, such as data privacy, sustainability, employment law and sanctions.
