The NBC News Specials team is seeking a Production Assistant to support the team during overnight breaking news coverage on weekends and Early Today weekdays. You’ll work closely with the Senior Producer and Line Producer to ensure all production elements are in place for seamless live broadcasts during major news events. We are looking for production assistants who are passionate about journalism, and thrive in a fast-paced, quickly changing and deadline driven team environment.

As a researcher, you will work directly with associate producers, producers and senior producers to assist in the writing and production of original tape and live segments for TODAY. Essential Responsibilities: Assist in producing original news content, primarily for broadcast, including elements and background research, assisting with set-up of and conducting of interviews, and supporting field producing and shooting. Researchers are expected to work on daily crash stories ranging from breaking news to politics to celebrity profiles.

Operate control room systems and automation, using templates to streamline technical directing, audio mixing, robotics, live/remote segment cut-ins, video playback, graphics insertion, and switching Edit stories and clips to ensure high-quality, engaging content that aligns with production standards Give direction and timing to talent and other technicians during broadcasts and studio productions Develop and maintain system documentation for operational and troubleshooting purposes Performs other control room and studio related duties as assigned Experience with production switcher operatio
